Veloraptors are hostile melee mobs that spawn naturally in Precasia.
Spawning[]
Veloraptors spawn naturally in Precasia. They will only spawn in Precasian Desert, Precasian Forest, Precasian Jungle, Precasian Plains, Precasian Savannah, and Precasian Tall Forest biomes at a Y level of 60 or higher.
Like most other mobs; their spawning can be prevented by placing torches or other lighting blocks nearby to raise the light level above 0.
Veloraptors have an equal chance to spawn as a brown or green color.
Behavior[]

A Veloraptor's hitboxes.
Veloraptors are aggressive, and will attack nearby players, player-owned mobs, Opteryx, and Sniffers within 16 blocks of them without provocation. This vision range is reduced by 60% (6.4 blocks) during the night. Once a Veloraptor is aggroed to a target, or a player/mob aggroed them, they will continue attempting to attack until the target moves over 32 blocks away. They attack by biting their target, dealing melee damage.
Veloraptors will follow targets both on land and in water, and are capable of pathfinding around obstacles. If a target is far away, Veloraptors will run faster than usual.
If a target is 2.8-5.5 blocks away and the Veloraptor has line of sight, a Veloraptor has a high chance to do a lunge attack in which it will launch itself towards a target. A Veloraptor is still capable of doing damage mid-flight during a lunge, dealing more damage than usual. After lunging, a Veloraptor must wait 1.5 seconds before it can do another lunge. If a Veloraptor is not on the ground (I.E. if it's swimming or midair), it cannot lunge.
If a Veloraptor is hurt or is hurting an animal target, it will alert other Veloraptors to aggro onto its attacker/target within a radius equivalent to its follow range (32 blocks).
Veloraptors will also wander around less frequently during the night.
Veloraptors have two hitboxes; one green ones and one central white one. The player can attack any of them to do damage, however attacks on the front green one (where Veloraptor's head is) do 10% more damage then attacks on the other hitbox.
Spawning Skeletal Abomination[]
If a Veloraptor is fully submerged in Tar and dies in it, a Skeletal Abomination will spawn in its place.

Bestiary Entry[]
“ | A small, agile hunter creature that aggressively hunts in packs and has an unending appetite.
Veloraptors are usually found in small groups roaming open plains or forests and jungles looking for prey to eat. It uses its sharp teeth and claws in rapid attacks that can quickly bring down even the toughest of beasts. Watch out for their leap, as it can catch prepared adventurers unaware. Like most of the creatures of Precasia; it is mostly active during the day, and tend to slow down and rest at night. |
