The End is a mysterious floating dimension added by vanilla Minecraft. When the player first enters The End, they will immediately encounter the Ender Dragon. The only way to leave the End without dying is to kill the Ender Dragon.

Advent of Ascension does not any mobs or structures to the end, but it does add some extra loot for killing the Ender Dragon.

Accessing[edit | edit source]

To access the End the player must find a stronghold in the Overworld. This can be done by using Eyes of Ender, which will float towards the stronghold. If followed, they will eventually go into the ground when it is nearby. Eyes of Ender can break when used, so it is important to have a large amount before trying to reach the End.

Once there, the player must find the End portal room, which contains an inactive portal made of 12 end portal frame blocks. These must be filled with Eyes of Ender to activate the portal. When this is done, the player can jump in and will be teleported to the End.

Each portal frame block has a 10% chance to already have an Eye of Ender when found, so there is a decent chance that the player will not need all 12 ender eyes.

Generation[edit | edit source]

The landscape of the End is a consists of two parts: a singular, floating island of End Stone and an infinite, similarly floating outer portion. Several pillars of Obsidian will spawn, each with an Ender Crystal on top that heals the Ender Dragon as it flies nearby. Some crystals are surrounded with Iron Bars, forcing the player to break the bars before destroying the crystals.

The return portal generates in the center of the End's main island. This is not activated until the Ender Dragon is defeated.

Once the Ender Dragon is defeated, a gateway portal will spawn in the End. The player can throw an Ender Pearl into this portal in order to be teleported to the outer portion of the End, and can return by doing the same with the gateway portal on the other side. The outer portion of the End is littered with chorus trees and will rarely generate End cities, but not much else.
