Usage

Template:FileCategorization is used to categorize specific files.

Parameters

The template can host the following arguments:

{{FileCategorization
|type =
|name =
|omit =
|author =
|custom =
|category =
|gif =
|upcoming =
}}

Explanation of parameters

  • type - this parameter is used to quickly categorize a file of a certain nature (for example, all block isometric renders, etc). The parameter can be set to "block", "mob", "sound" or "item", which will categorize a file that is commonly found on the wiki:
    • Setting this parameter to block or 1 will place the file in Category:Block icons and display "Isometric render of name." The name parameter can be set to change the displayed name; otherwise it defaults to the page name with the file extension and the "File:" stripped off.
    • Setting this parameter to mob or 2 will place the file in Category:Mob images and display "Rendered image of a/an/(nothing) name." The name parameter must be set in order to define the name listed in the displayed text, otherwise it defaults to a broken link.
      • If the name begins with a vowel (a/e/i/o/u), "an name" is displayed instead of "a name". If the omit parameter is set, the a/an is omitted, leaving just "name".
    • Setting this parameter to sound or 3 will place the file in Category:Sounds and display "Credits: author." If the author parameter is not set, it defaults to "Author unknown".
    • Setting this parameter to item or 4 will display "Item sprite of a/an/(nothing) name." The name parameter can be set to change the displayed name; otherwise it defaults to the base page name with the file extension stripped off. The file is placed in Category:Item images.
      • If the name begins with a vowel (a/e/i/o/u), "an name" is displayed instead of "a name". If the omit parameter is set, the a/an is omitted, leaving just "name".
    • Setting this parameter to screenshot or 5 will put the page in Category:Screenshots. No text will be displayed.
    • Setting this parameter to armor or 6 will put the page in Category:Screenshots and display the text Screenshot of a player wearing name.
    • Setting this parameter to vanillablock places the page in Category:Vanilla block images.
    • Setting this parameter to vanillaitem places the page in Category:Vanilla item images.
    • Setting this parameter to anything other than the above listed names will not display any text on the file's page and the file is not placed in any category.
  • name - this parameter is used to define the name of the file's subject, usually to be used in a link.
  • omit - this parameter is used when the name parameter is a pronoun, or when having "a" in front of it does not make sense. It changes some of the default display text displayed by the type parameter to not have "a" before name.
  • author - this parameter is exclusively used when type is set to sound. It defines the author to which the file is credited to.
  • custom - this parameter will allow additional text to be displayed below text displayed through the type parameter.
  • category - this parameter allows for the file to be added to additional categories besides from the ones that are already added through the type parameter. The wiki syntaxes for categories: [[Category:...]] must be used.
  • gif - this parameter adds the file to Category:Gifs when set. It can be set to any value.
  • upcoming - this parameter adds the file to Category:Upcoming when set. It can be set to any value.
