Smilodons are hostile melee mobs that spawn naturally in Precasia.

Spawning[ | ]

Smilodons spawn naturally in Precasia. They will only spawn in Precasian Forest, Precasian Jungle, Precasian Plains, Precasian Savannah, and Precasian Tall Forest biomes at a Y level of 60 or higher.

Like most other mobs; their spawning can be prevented by placing torches or other lighting blocks nearby to raise the light level above 0.

Behavior[ | ]

Smilodon Hitbox

A Smilodon's hitboxes.

Smilodons are aggressive, and will attack nearby players, player-owned mobs, and Horndron within 16 blocks of them without provocation. This vision range is reduced by 60% (6.4 blocks) during the night. Once a Smilodon is aggroed to a target, or a player/mob aggroed them, they will continue attempting to attack until the target moves over 32 blocks away. They attack with a basic melee attack.

Smilodons will follow targets both on land and in water, and are capable of pathfinding around obstacles.

When a Smilodon is aggroed onto something, it runs faster than its normal walk speed.

When a Smilodon attacks a target, it has a 1 in 10 chance to inflict them with Slowness III for 1 second, also creating critical hit particles.

Smilodons will also wander around less frequently during the night.

Smilodons have four hitboxes; 3 green ones and one central white one. The player can attack any of them to do damage, however attacks on the front green one (where Smilodon's head is) do 25% more damage then attacks on the other hitboxes, and attacks on the back green one (where the back of Smilodon's body is) do 10% less damage.

Spawning Skeletal Abomination[ | ]

If a Smilodon is fully submerged in Tar and dies in it, a Skeletal Abomination will spawn in its place.

Bestiary Entry[ | ]

Prehistoric ancestors of the more modern tiger, these large quadrupedal creatures put their powerful legs to great use as they sprint across open ground to run down

even the most agile prey. Once they reach their target they will pummel them into the ground and then feast on the remains.

Like most of the creatures of Precasia; it is mostly active during the day, and tend to slow down and rest at night.

Trivia[ | ]

  • Smilodon was an actual species of prehistoric felidae.
