Grunts are hostile melee mobs that spawn naturally in the Overworld.
Spawning[ | ]
Grunts spawn naturally in mountain-type biomes in the Overworld.
They will only spawn during the day, and like most other mobs; their spawning can be prevented by placing torches or other lighting blocks nearby to raise the light level above 7.
Behavior[ | ]
Grunts are melee mobs that will follow targets both on land and in water. They will initially attempt to avoid getting into the water where possible, but will go in if they find no other path to their target.
They are aggressive, and will attack nearby players within 16 blocks without provocation. If attacked by another entity, they will retaliate and continue targeting that entity.
Staying outside of their targeting range will prevent them from attacking or targeting entities.
When running, Grunts do not handle quick turning very well. They require a short distance to slow down, or to take a wide turn. This allows players more easily outmaneuver them.

Bestiary Entry[ | ]
“ | Technically a member of the imp family, Grunts are short little pests that are known for taking great joy in causing general pain in anything it sees fit. Despite its small size, Grunts can move extremely quickly in short bursts, which it uses to its advantage as a way of quickly approaching potential victims.
While not necessarily aggressive, Grunts are considered hostile due to their persistently mischievous behaviour. Take this into consideration when travelling through the hills they tend to be found in, as their quick sprints can easily catch their targets off-guard. |
