The Nethengeic Beast is a neutral mob found in Nethengeic Pits.

Spawning[ | ]

Nethengeic Beasts spawn naturally in Nethengeic Pit structures in the Nether. They will spawn at all light levels. They cannot spawn on Nether Wart Blocks, or if there are any existing Nethengeic Beasts within a 15x2x15 radius around the chosen spawn point.

Behavior[ | ]

Nethengeic Beasts are neutral mobs; they will not attack other targets unless they get attacked first.

Nethengeic Beasts attack with a variety of ranged attacks. Each attack has a weight value that dictates the chances of it being used, rolled after every attack. If an attack cannot be used, its weight is not counted towards the total.

Nethengeic Beasts are immune to the Nethengeic Curse effect and any damage types with the properties of fire.

Fireball[ | ]

Nethengeic Beasts primarily attack by shooting a fireball. These deal 10 (♥×5) ranged attack damage, light blocks on fire, and have a 1/4 chance to ignite entities on impact. If the Fireball attack is used again, the Nethengeic Beast must wait 0.5-1 second before shooting another one.

This attack has a weight of 30.

Flame aura[ | ]

On occasion, Nethengeic Beasts will surround themselves with a flame aura, which can linger as it uses other attacks. While the flame aura is active, any melee damage done to Nethengeic Beast will have the attacker take 3 (♥×1.5) fire recoil damage, be set on fire, and be afflicted with Nethengeic Curse I for 10 seconds. Additionally, any damage done by Blasters will instead heal the Nethengeic Beast.

The aura will disappear if it has no target, or if this attack is used while the aura is already active. It has a cooldown of 9-18 seconds after being used. The aura also prevents the flame spin attack from being used.

This behavior has a weight of 1.

Flamethrower[ | ]

With this attack, Nethengeic Beasts shoot a stream of fire particles from their cores. These deal 1 (♥×0.5) flamethrower damage on contact, and have a 25% chance to set the target on fire and add a second to the target's fire time. The fire time will cap out at 15 seconds.

This attack can only be used if it has a target that is visible to it and less than 16 blocks away. It will stop if the target gets over 18 blocks away, or after being active for at least 4 seconds, with a 1/100 chance per tick to stop after that. It has a cooldown of 8 seconds after being used.

This behavior has a weight of 7.

Flame spin[ | ]

With this attack, Nethengeic Beasts spin rapidly and emit a flurry of flame projectiles in a short radius. These flame projectiles have the same damage and effects as those of the flamethrower attack.

This attack can only be used if the flame aura is not active, it has a target, and either the target is within 5 blocks from it, or a player or player-owned mob is within 5 blocks from it. It has a cooldown of anywhere between 5-7 seconds after being used.

This behavior has a weight of 7.

Bestiary Entry[ | ]

An alien abomination of fire and magic, this monstrosity is one of the fiercest creatures in the Nether.

Its hulking form is an amalgamation of the fire and lava of the Nether it lives in, and an otherworldly composite that makes up its bones, in the shape of an intimidating monster.

Despite its intimidating form and impressive power, it's not at all aggressive unless provoked. It's suspected that these beings are not strictly natives to the Nether, and instead were created during the last great dimensional clash through a spike of magical energy. Nevertheless, they are a devastatingly dangerous creature that should not be provoked at any cost.

Trivia[ | ]

  • The fiery parts of Nethengeic Beast's body will glow in the dark.
