Version added ?

Leafy Giants are neutral melee mobs that spawn naturally in the Overworld.

Spawning[ | ]

Leafy Giants rarely spawn naturally in the Overworld. They will only spawn in biomes tagged as minecraft:is_jungle- however the biome must not also be tagged as forge:is_snowy.

They will only spawn during the day, and like most other mobs; their spawning can be prevented by placing torches or other lighting blocks nearby to raise the light level above 0.

Behavior[ | ]

Leafy Giants are neutral mobs; they will not attack unless provoked.

When hostile, Leafy Giants can see and pursue players from up to 40 blocks away. When the player is close enough, they will dish out a melee attack where they throw their arms into the air and slam them down, doing melee damage if the attack connects. If a Leafy Giant is on fire, then its melee attack will set its target on fire when it connects.

Leafy Giants have the ability to spawn Bush Babies to aid it in battle. Leafy Giants will spawn a single Bush Baby every 7.5 to 25 seconds at random, as long as there are under 5 Bush Babies within a 10x10x10 region around it.

When brought below half health, Leafy Giants put up a shield and spawn 10 Bush Babies, regardless of the amount nearby. The shield will only be deactivated once there are no more Bush Babies in a 40x40x40 region around it. The Glowing effect is applied to any Bush Babies protecting Leafy Giant. They will continue spawning Bush Babies as before, but will also reactivate the shield each time they do so.

All Bush Babies spawned while the Leafy Giant is on fire will also be on fire. The Bush Babies spawned by Leafy Giant will not drop any items nor experience.

Other abilities[ | ]

Leafy Giant can walk over blocks and obstacles up to 1.5 blocks high.

Leafy Giants cannot be pushed.

Bestiary Entry[ | ]

Relative of the Wood Giant; Leafy Giants are enormous woodland monstrosities that roam leafy forests and take control of the local food chain.

They appear to be the same species of creature as Wood Giants, with a random mutation at birth causing them to grow natural foliage on their bodies. It is not known why this occurs.

They are not aggressive by default, except when hunting, but they will aggressively defend themselves if provoked. Provoking them is... not a good idea. They seem to form a magical bond with Bush Babies, which causes them to eject themselves from the giant's foliage and attack anything they feel like. If enraged enough, they will active some form of magical ability that keeps them near-invulnerable once the Bush Babies have left their nest, forcing them to be faced first so that the magical bond can be broken and the protection removed
