Ice Giants are neutral melee mobs that spawn naturally in the Overworld.
Spawning[ | ]
Ice Giants rarely spawn naturally in the Overworld. They will only spawn in biomes tagged as c:is_snowy.
They will only spawn during the day, and like most other mobs; their spawning can be prevented by placing torches or other lighting blocks nearby to raise the light level above 0.
Behavior[ | ]
Ice Giants are neutral mobs; they will not attack unless provoked.
When hostile, Ice Giants can see and pursue their targets from up to 40 blocks away. When close enough to their targets, they will dish out a melee attack where they throw their arms into the air and slam them down, doing damage if the attack connects (damage in the infobox on the right).
Ice Giants also have a long-ranged attack, where they release a frost stream from their eyes. The attack does ice beam damage, and will also inflict the player with the same freezing effect given by Powder Snow. The frost stream will add 34 ticks of Freeze per hit, capping out at 350 ticks of Freeze. The effect will last long enough to do around 3-4 (×1.5-2) damage each time it is applied. If their target is fully frozen, they will approach as normal.
When an Ice Giant gets attacked with a melee-type attack, the attacker will be frozen (same as Powder Snow) for 5 seconds. If the attacker was already frozen, then 5 additional seconds will be added to the time spent frozen. For example, if the player attacks the Ice Giant while still having 10 seconds of being frozen left, the time spent frozen will increase to 15 seconds.
Ice Giants are immune to the Powder Snow freezing effect.
Ice Giants sink in water, and will instantly despawn in a puff of particles if submerged.

Ice Giant can walk over blocks and obstacles up to 1.5 blocks high.
Ice Giants cannot be pushed.

“ | A hulking giant seemingly made entirely from ice, this monstrosity can be rarely found wandering around the coldest of wastelands, ruling as king of the food chain in the area.
They don't like to compete for territory with others of its kind, nor do they work together well, so you will usually only see them in solitary isolation Despite their enormous size and incompatibility with other Ice Giants, they are generally not inclined to attack at random, and instead only hunt for food as necessary, or in retaliation if attacked first. Don't assume this means they are lacking in the combat department however, as they are more than capable of wiping out even the most prepared invaders if provoked. |
