Ghosts are hostile melee mobs that spawn naturally in the Overworld.

Spawning[edit | edit source]

Ghosts spawn naturally in all biomes in the Overworld.

They will only spawn under Y=50, and only in places with a light level lower than 8. Their spawning can be prevented by placing torches or other lighting blocks nearby to raise the light level above 7.

Behavior[edit | edit source]

Ghosts are melee mobs that will follow targets both on land and in water. They will initially attempt to avoid getting into the water where possible, but will go in if they find no other path to their target.

They are aggressive, and will attack nearby players within 16 blocks without provocation. If attacked by another entity, they will retaliate and continue targeting that entity.

Staying outside of their targeting range will prevent them from attacking or targeting entities.

Unique Abilities[edit | edit source]

When a Ghost is targeting a player that it can see, and that player is looking in the direction of the ghost, it will make itself invisible for 10 seconds. While invisible, very faint particles can be seen and used to locate it

Classification[edit | edit source]

Ghosts are classified as undead creatures, and as such the effects of Smite will apply to them.
