Bosses are significantly stronger enemies that can be spawned manually.
Overview[ | ]
There are 30 boss fights in Advent of Ascension (note: some boss fights consist of more than one entity).
In this mod, fighting all bosses is an optional task; the player does not need to battle any of them in order to progress through the mod. However, a couple bosses are required to be spawned in to progress to certain dimensions (though the player does not need to fight them afterwards).
Most bosses have a boss bar that appears on the top of the screen when the boss is in the general vicinity of the player. All bosses cannot travel through portals.
Accessing Bosses[ | ]
Bosses in the mod have to be manually summoned in order to be fought. This involves obtaining the corresponding Boss Token Item for a boss. Once the Boss Token Item is obtained, it can be used in 2 different ways:
- Using the Boss Token Item on the Boss Altar in the Nowhere Boss Lobby.
- If the player does not have direct access to Nowhere yet, holding the Boss Token Item and holding down right-click for 3 seconds will transport them to the Nowhere Disabled Boss Lobby, where it can similarly be used on the Boss Altar that's also there to access the boss fight. Otherwise, the player is transported to the Nowhere Boss Lobby if they already have direct access to Nowhere.
All bosses are fought in Nowhere, but they are associated with the dimension their Boss Token Item is found in. Summoning a boss does not consume the Boss Token Item.
Boss Drops[ | ]
When the player defeats a boss added by the mod, said boss can drop a wide range of items. All bosses will drop a Trophy of themselves when defeated (some bosses have a variation of this), drop a fully completed weapon or armor piece, as well as various miscellaneous items such as Archaic Tokens.
By default, the items dropped by a boss will automatically end up in the player's inventory. If the inventory was full, any items that could not fit will spawn where the boss was defeated. Defeating a boss with other players participating will cause the items to be evenly split between players. This can be modified in the Configuration.
