Chompers are hostile melee mobs that spawn naturally in the Overworld and Precasia.
Spawning[ | ]
Chompers spawn naturally in the Overworld. They will only spawn in biomes tagged as c:is_swamp and c:is_wet - however the biome must not also be tagged as minecraft:is_jungle.
Chompers also spawn naturally in Precasia. They will only spawn in Precasian River and Precasian Shore biomes.
Chompers are capable of spawning on both land and water within applicable biomes.
Like most other mobs; their spawning can be prevented by placing torches or other lighting blocks nearby to raise the light level above 0.
Behavior[ | ]
Chompers are aggressive, and will attack nearby players and player-owned mobs within 8 blocks of them without provocation. Once a Chomper is aggroed to a target, or a player/mob aggroed them, they will continue attempting to attack until the target moves over 14 blocks away. They attack with a basic melee attack.
Chompers will follow targets both on land and in water, and are capable of pathfinding around obstacles.
Chompers will also target any mob with a width value of 0.5 blocks or lower and a height value of 0.75 blocks or lower.
When not pursuing a target, Chompers may hide in nearby water blocks. They will seek out a water block within 1-10 blocks on the x and z axis', and 0-6 blocks on the y-axis. They will only go into the water during the day. If a target comes within range of the Chomper while it is in the water, it will come out of the water and attack.
When a Chomper is attacking something, it runs faster than its normal walk speed.
Chompers can fully swim in water; they can move both up and down in water.
Chompers cannot drown.
Chompers will not make any noises while moving.
Chompers have four hitboxes; 3 green ones and one central white one. The player can attack any of them to do damage, however attacks on the front green one (where Chomper's head is) do 25% more damage then attacks on the other hitboxes, attacks on the green one second from the back (where the back half of Chomper's body is) do 10% less damage, and attacks on the back green one (where the tip of Chomper's tail is) do 25% less damage.

“ | Chompers are large quadrupeds with very powerful forelimbs, which they use primarily for very quick movement through both water and on land. Being amphibious, Chompers are happy to live either on land or in the water, however do need to stay hydrated in order to survive.
Chompers will defend their land aggressively, attacking anyone who may approach them. Their two large tusks ensure that whoever they bite will not be getting away easily. |
