Chargers are hostile melee mobs that spawn naturally in the Overworld.

Chargers spawn naturally in most biomes in the Overworld.

They will only spawn during the day, and like most other mobs; their spawning can be prevented by placing torches or other lighting blocks nearby to raise the light level above 7.

Chargers are melee mobs that will follow targets both on land and in water. They will initially attempt to avoid getting into the water where possible, but will go in if they find no other path to their target.

They are aggressive, and will attack nearby players within 16 blocks without provocation. If attacked by another entity, they will retaliate and continue targeting that entity.

Staying outside of their targeting range will prevent them from attacking or targeting entities.

When running, Chargers do not handle quick turning very well. They require a short distance to slow down, or to take a wide turn. This allows players to more easily outmaneuver them.

Bestiary Entry[]

One of the most adaptable birds in the overworld. Chargers are a known pest species of large flightless birds that seem intent on flocking towards potential attackers with no regard for safety.

Their long legs and flexible frame allows them great speed and mobility when running across land, beating out even some speedy quadrupeds. The good news is that their mobile prowess is easily offset by their inherent fragility. If confronted by one, it's usually not too hard to dispatch with a few well-aimed hits.

Despite this, it is still worth taking caution, as their high speed and sharp beak can quickly overwhelm unsuspecting victims.
