Bonebacks are hostile melee mobs that spawn naturally in the Overworld.
Spawning[ | ]
Bonebacks spawn naturally in savanna-type biomes in the Overworld.
They will only spawn during the day, and like most other mobs; their spawning can be prevented by placing torches or other lighting blocks nearby to raise the light level above 7.
Behavior[ | ]
Bonebacks are melee mobs that will follow targets both on land and in water. They will initially attempt to avoid getting into the water where possible, but will go in if they find no other path to their target.
They are aggressive, and will attack nearby players within 16 blocks without provocation. If attacked by another entity, they will retaliate and continue targeting that entity.
Staying outside of their targeting range will prevent them from attacking or targeting entities.

Bestiary entry[ | ]
“ | Bonebacks are the stray dogs of the savannah. They're scrawny, boney, and rabid.
In the savannah, unlike most creatures, the Boneback has its feet split into two elongated tarsal structures. This allows the creature to minimise lost energy in traversing sandy surfaces due to retained surface tension. In general, it's recommended to avoid these whenever possible, as they tend to be less than friendly when encountered. Additionally, their excessively boney structure causes them to be fairly resistant to most attacks. Only those sufficiently trained in combat will recognise the required techniques to properly attack this creature. |
