Attercopus are hostile spider-like melee mobs that spawn naturally in Precasia.
Spawning[ | ]
Attercopus spawn naturally in Precasia. They will only spawn in Precasian Caves, Precasian Desert, Precasian Forest, Precasian Jungle, Precasian Ocean, Precasian Plains, Precasian River, Precasian Savannah, Precasian Shore, and Precasian Tall Forest biomes at a Y level of 50 or lower.
They are additionally capable of spawning at the surface of a Precasian Desert biome at any Y level if the sky is darkened enough - I.E. if it is night.
Attercopus will also spawn from Cocoon blocks that naturally generate in Attercopus Nests. These Attercopus count as mobs spawned from a mob spawner.
Like most other mobs; their spawning can be prevented by placing torches or other lighting blocks nearby to raise the light level above 0.
Behavior[ | ]
Attercopus are aggressive, and will attack nearby players and player-owned mobs within 16 blocks of them without provocation. Once a Attercopus is aggroed to a target, or a player/mob aggroed them, they will continue attempting to attack until the target moves over 32 blocks away. They attack by attempting to sting with their stinger, dealing sting damage.
Attercopus will follow targets both on land and in water, and are capable of pathfinding around obstacles. They are capable of climbing walls and can walk through Cobweb without slowing down.
Attercopus will inflict Poison I on hit. The duration of the poison depends on the difficulty: 8 seconds on easy, 16 seconds on normal, and 24 seconds on hard.
Attercopus will take halved fall damage compared to other entities. They also have to fall down 10 or more blocks to start taking fall damage.
Attercopus is immune to the Poison effect.

Bestiary Entry[ | ]
“ | Small, arachnid creatures that are primarily found in caves and the underground. They have no issue identifying threats in the dark due to their trained set of eyes.
Their rather large stinger is its primary attack vector, acting somewhat like a scorpion in quickly dosing its target with a lingering poison. They are normally found in small groups and packs, and can quickly overwhelm their victims. Despite mainly being found underground, they have been found on the surface of the desert at night, presumably as they dig their way out looking for more to eat. |
