Arkbacks are powerful but neutral mobs from the Barathos dimension.
Spawning[ | ]
Arkbacks can spawn anywhere in Barathos, and they spawn at any light level.
They will despawn if the player gets too far away from them, or if the difficulty is set to Peaceful.
Behavior[ | ]
Arkbacks are melee mobs that will follow targets both on land and in water. They will initially attempt to avoid getting into the water where possible, but will go in if they find no other path to their target.
They are neutral, and will only attack players if they are provoked. If attacked by another entity, they will retaliate and continue targeting that entity.
They will never receive knockback when attacked.

Bestiary Entry[ | ]
“ | An enormous crab-like creature from the Barathos flats, the Arkback lives almost exclusively in the least habitable desert areas of Barathos.
Its giant frame, bulky mass, and incredibly dense exoskeleton gives this creature an unparalleled natural protection, protecting it from the harsh environment it lives in. Its giant back plate naturally collects sand from the buffeting winds of the Barathos sandstorms, and it uses that collected sand to regulate its temperature, before shaking it off when no longer needed. Its bulk would position it as a formidable predator, but its life is notably peaceful, seemingly completely unconcerned by even direct attackers, focussing more on bearing down into a protective stance when hurt too much, before continuing on. |
